Chinese New Year has always been my favourite occasion. It is the only period, i think, that worth those traffic jams. Jam from singapore to door-step of grandma's malaysian house.

Besides visiting relatives and collecting ang baos, eating new-year food and drinking all sort of drinks (except alcoholic ones), we watched an acrobat-wushu performance by a He Nan Acrobat-wushu group. Packed with strength, agility and grace, they put a thumb-up show. It was simply AwEsoME!!! Their bodies can twist everywhere oh my goodnes... more flexible than a snake!! And they seem to be feather-weight. 11 people on a bicycle! 7 or 8 people cliching on the rider, the one who was cycling. I am inspired to be an acrobat. However, I am too old for all these. I will break all my bones and joints!!

Actually, this was the second time I dreamed to be an acrobat. The first time was 4 yrs ago when I went to Beijing and watched an acrobat performance. . haha.. A dream that was never realised. I think my parents will faint at the instant they knew of this dream.

The family has growned bigger. Bigger in size and numbers. More marragies, more babies and more ang baos! Singles like me benefit =) I saw an increase in the number.. hehe... they are in ringgit though.

For several cny, the newspaper column has been mentioning about the group who travel to oversea to escape from the usual cny-qn: do you have a gf/bf? when are you getting married? when you are getting pregnant? when are you having a child? The group is large, as the papers said, to become an issue. I however, was only convinced by the severity when I saw countless singapore-registered cars with only a driver or a couple lining up on the road! Initially, I couldn comprehend the reason for the escape. I mean... there is nothing to be embarrass about. But, now my thinking is changed.

This cny my relatives keep asking if I have a bf. For some unkown reason ( I am not embarrass about it or am I?), I had to boister my courage to utter the answer. Worse, " I have no time" is categorized as an excuse and maybe an unacceptable reason . An acceptable explaination would prove to be challenging task. I have this frightening feeling that I going throught that "phase".. hiaz..

I am to a conclusion that vodka or alcohol and me do not get along very well. Today I was expriencing a slight hangover, and I went to NUS without attending the only lecture of the day. So I have to watch the web-cast.

Last night was my very good friend, Dolly's social night. She invited Nelson who was her date and me.. erm.. friends reunion. Three of us knew each other during JC days so it was more like a meet-up session in SAFTI. We also get to know a very nice and down-to-earth buddy of hers, Hui shan.

It was quite an un-interesting affair. Simply eat, drink and be merry. Maybe a few games but either we cant be bothered or doesnt involved us. First, was the scavanger hunt which none of us paid slight attention to. Second, was Beer-drinking competition which girls were naturally out. Third, was couple-eat-sweet-and-lips-supposed-to-touch- competition which non-couples were automatically disqualified. Last, was mixed alcohol drinking competition which needed much urging and encouragement from the emcee before anyone relunctantly participated. Thats all.

A very gentleman Nelson fetched a glass of orange juice for me and in order to make sure it is alcohol-free, he tasted it before getting me one. Surprise, surprise, the orange juice was contaminted. I did not blame him. My reasoning is that he had already downed 3 mugs of beer so he couldnt tasted out the vodka. Well, I felt a bit tipsy after half a glass and my face flushed. My mind is still clear. Most importantly, I reached home safetly.

Dolly and I parted with a tighter- than- bear hug.

She will be on board ship next wednesday and I shall see her a few months later. Haiz...

Before I forget, I must also thank the date of her buddy. She drove us, Nelson and me, out of SAFTI.

Last month the exams ended and a month later, the new semester starts. 3 yrs in uni would certainly be over before you finish saying "university". Of course, the semester kicks off with the nerve-cracking bidding.

While the majority had declared major, I am still thinking about this issue. Not that they had confirmed their majors but it is for convenience sake. You get to bid earlier. So, once again I did not get all the modules I wanted. Anyway, I am quite contented with these: PR 2202 Cosmetics and Perfumes, GEK 1503 Chemistry in Space, SC1101E Making sense of the Society, NM 2102 Theories of Communication and New Media, and CH 2228 Ci lyrics in Tang-Song dynasties.

I thoroughly enjoy Cosmetics and Perfumes! As title said its about cometics and pefumes, taught under Pharmacy. Therefore, it is not girly or teach you how to put on make-up. I encouraged guys to take this, at least to let them know that by bathing themselves in deodourant/perfume doesnt mask the body odour. Instead, it usually turns out to be worse. I know its sweet, nice and gentleman of them to try. But a mixture of perspiration and deodourant/perfume does not produce the desired smell. Advice: take a shower. Another advice: Tab a few drops of perfume when you are well-washed.

Another module i really like and dislike at the same time is Chemistry in Space. It is mostly on astronomy. So I shall spend most of my time seeing stars, literally. However, the theories behind the formation though interesting, is kinda boring. 1h 30 min lecture on the Big Bang Theory. For your information, the universe ( as the theory said) is tiny and there is no bang. Just like the Holy Roman Empire. It is neither holy nor roman. Here are some pictures:

Beautiful arent they...

The other modules.. well... another time
